De tijd zone kan aangepast worden via de command line, pas daarvoor het volgende bestand aan

vi /etc/sysconfig/clock

#ZONE="Brazil/East"
ZONE="Europe/Amsterdam"
UTC=true
ARC=false

Note: Als je systeem de bios systeem tijd op UTC heeft staan zet dan UTC=true, als dit niet het geval is maar bv de tijd je huidige timezone UTC=false. UTC setting moet altijd over een komen met de setting in de BIOS.

Om de juiste zone in te stellen moet de ZONE over een komen met de de file in /usr/share/zoneinfo. Let op de directory structuur, om bv de tijdzone op Amsterdam te zetten deze staat in de directory Europe, ZONE informatie ziet er dan bv als volgt uit:

   ZONE="Europe/Amsterdam"

Of mischien ben je wel in East Brazil :

   ZONE="Brazil/East"

save the file

/etc/sysconfig/clock

Bij de volgende reboot is de tijdzone actief.

For the time on the machine to reflect the change timezone we need to link the zoneinfo file to

/etc/localtime

This can be done as follows :

If you are setting your timezone to “Brazil/East” link the following file to

/etc/localtime

# ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Amsterdam /etc/localtime

Now by typing the date command to display the time you should see if reflect the newly linked timezone :

 # date
 Thu Sep 30 10:06:23 CET 2004
